Nylah Bluiett — Apparel Design ’24

Associate Designer, Sportswear | Under Armour | Baltimore, MD

I contribute to the development of design concepts that reflect Under Armour’s brand vision and current trends in our sportswear categories across all genders and price levels. I create detailed technical packages, manage color coordination and merchandising pages, and maintain style data in our PLM system. I collaborate closely with product line managers, technical designers, and global merchandisers to ensure alignment throughout the development process.

I would highly encourage students to deeply study garment construction, as understanding stitching, finishing, and how pieces come together is essential for any designer. I often turn garments inside out to examine their construction, which helps me improve my own designs. I also make it a priority to learn about textiles and fabric composition so you can confidently identify materials and make informed design decisions.

NCAA Women’s Apparel Buyer | Fanatics | Jacksonville, FL

I am the buyer over the Fanatics e-commerce NCAA Women’s Apparel business. Fanatics is the leader in the sports licensed category. I manage the full assortment from 30+ vendors, 600+ NCAA schools, and so many fun new product launches- including National Championship apparel, fashion collabs, and unique school specific programs.

Find a job that combines what you love and what you want to do- you don’t have to just pick one! I loved sports and apparel buying and landed up in the perfect intersection of the two.

Project Manager, Enterprise Technology Team | World Central Kitchen | Birmingham, AL

I’m thrilled to share news with you all about an exciting career shift. I have formally accepted a promotion at World Central Kitchen as the Project Manager for the Enterprise Technology Team!

With the transition away from analytics-based roles, I have had the opportunity to pursue education and certifications with the Project Management Institute. I will have more to share about my progress in this regard in the coming months.

This redirection also means that I have dediced to no longer pursue my master’s degree in Analytics at Georgia Tech. It was an honor to be accepted into the program, but the curriculum no longer makes sense for me with this new direction in my career.

Angelina Calabro — Master’s of Consumer Sciences ’ 07

Senior Technical Designer, Team Sports | Under Armour | Baltimore, MD

As a Senior Technical Designer, my overall responsibilities include fit, function, and construction of Under Armour onfield, catalogue and in-store uniforms. My focus is on american football, flag football and baseball,  and evaluate fit samples on athletes for fit appearance and garment mobility. Recently I fit football players at a major university and flag football uniforms on USA Football athletes. Our mantra at UA is that UA makes athletes better, and I get to be a part of that every day. The product I create can be seen on various teams and is currently being showcased on USA Football Men’s and Women’s National Flag Football teams. If you had told 2007 me that I would someday get to work on football uniforms, I would not have believed you. I have the dream job I never knew I wanted!
